New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is a 2011 romantic comedy film directed by Garry Marshall. Like Valentine's Day, Marshall's previous film, it depicts a series of holiday vignettes of the state of several romances and features a large ensemble cast.

On New Year's Eve, Vice-President of the Times Square Alliance Claire Morgan (Hilary Swank) is making the final arrangements for the ball drop with the help of her friend Brandon (Chris "Ludacris" Bridges). Meanwhile, after being nearly run over by a car and denied a vacation, Ahern Records secretary Ingrid (Michelle Pfeiffer) quits her job and offers the deliveryman Paul (Zac Efron) tickets for the Ahern Records Masquerade Ball if Paul helps her complete a series of New Year's resolutions before midnight, which he accepts.
Paul's sister Kim (Sarah Jessica Parker) is having trouble with her teenage daughter Hailey (Abigail Breslin) who wants to spend New Year's Eve with her friends and her boyfriend Seth (Jake T. Austin) in Times Square. Paul's friend, comic book illustrator Randy (Ashton Kutcher), who hates New Year's Eve after his girlfriend left him on a date, gets stuck in an elevator with Elise (Lea Michele), an aspiring singer who will be providing back-up for musician Jensen (Jon Bon Jovi) in his show at the Ahern Records ball, where he rekindles his feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Laura (Katherine Heigl).
At a nearby hospital, Stan Harris (Robert De Niro), a man in the final stages of cancer who refuses chemotherapy and who only wishes to see the ball drop one last time, is kept company by Nurse Aimee (Halle Berry) and Nurse Mindy (Alyssa Milano) after his doctor (Cary Elwes) reveals he will not last much longer. In the same hospital, a young couple, Griffin (Seth Meyers) and Tess (Jessica Biel), about to have their first child, competes with another couple, James (Til Schweiger) and Grace (Sarah Paulson), for a bonus offered for the family of the first child born in the new year. Elsewhere, Sam (Josh Duhamel), a businessman from Ahern Records, attempts to go to the Ahern Records Ball, where he is to deliver an important speech, after his car malfunctions on the other side of New York, all the while wondering if he should attend a meeting with a mysterious woman he met and fell in love with on the previous New Year's Eve.
 As midnight approaches, one of the billboard lights of the Times Square panel malfunctions, jamming the ball and forcing Claire to call Kominsky (Héctor Elizondo), an electrician, who the company had fired a few weeks prior. Kominsky repairs the ball before midnight, and, in gratitude, Claire leaves him in charge of the operation, and rushes to see the ball drop with her father, Stan. Meanwhile, Nurse Aimee has a video conference with her husband (Common), a soldier serving in Afghanistan.
Paul helps Ingrid complete all the items on her list, and she gives him the tickets. Meanwhile, Randy and Elise bond, and, as they are about to kiss, the elevator is repaired and Elise rushes to Jensen's show. Randy notices she forgot her rubber band and rushes to give it to her. At the Ball, Jensen leaves midway during the show and apologizes to Laura, who accepts him back and leaves with the approval of her assistant, Sous Chef Ava (Sofia Vergara). With Jensen gone, Elise is called to replace him and attracts the attention of the crowd. She kisses Randy, and they start a romantic relationship.
Griffin and Tess have their baby and, although it is born first, they allow James and Grace to have the bonus after discovering they actually have three children. Meanwhile, after being forbidden from attending the celebration, Hailey runs away to Times Square, where she sees Seth being kissed by another girl. Heartbroken, she meets and is comforted by her mother. Seth finds them and apologizes, claiming the girl stole a kiss from him. Hailey forgives him and Seth kisses her. Her mother allows her to go to an after-party. Kim then goes to a restaurant to meet Sam, who had succeeded in delivering his speech. She is the mysterious woman he met one year prior, and they finally discover each other's names.

Never Back Down

Never Back Down is a 2008 action film starring Sean Faris, Amber Heard, Cam Gigandet, and Djimon Hounsou. It was theatrically released on March 14, 2008. The film's tagline is "Win or lose... Everyone has their fight."





Jake Tyler (Sean Faris) has recently moved from Iowa to Orlando, Florida with his mother, Margret (Leslie Hope), and younger brother, Charlie (Wyatt Smith), to support Charlie's shot at a professional tennis career. Jake was a star athlete on the football team at home, but in this new city, he is an outsider with a reputation for being a quick tempered brawler after a video of him on the Internet starting a fight in a football game, because one of his opponents made a rash comment about Jake's dead father, circulates around his new school.
Making an attempt to fit in, at the invitation of a flirtatious classmate, Baja Miller (Amber Heard), Jake goes to a party where he is unwillingly pulled into a fight with the fighting champion at the school, Ryan McCarthy (Cam Gigandet). Originally, Jake does not wish to fight until Ryan taunts him about his father who died while driving drunk with Jake in the car. Jake is defeated in the fight, but a classmate, Max Cooperman (Evan Peters), who later becomes one of his best friends introduces himself to Jake and tells him about the sport known as Mixed Martial Arts. He sees a star in Jake and asks that he meet with his mentor, Jean Roqua (Djimon Hounsou). It is immediately apparent to Jake that MMA is not street fighting, but rather an art form he wants to master. Roqua agrees to take Jake as a pupil, but under the condition of Jake being unable to fight outside of the gym which Jake agrees to, though knowing he wishes to confront Ryan anyway. Baja attempts to apologize to Jake, but he does not sympathize with her and refuses to forgive her. Baja then confronts Ryan about the fight with Jake and then proceeds to end their relationship. Ryan begins to create a scene before the entire school but Jake steps in to defend Baja. After Ryan insults him again and leaves, Jake attends training with Roqua while still angry about the incident; Roqua asks Jake to leave to "cool off".
After he and Max leave the gym Jake gets into a brawl with a group of guys in a Hummer whom Jake easily disposes of while Max films. This video again circulates around the school raising Jake's social status but in the process only annoying Ryan. Ryan then proceeds to challenge Jake to compete in the Beatdown, an underground fighting tournament of which Ryan is the reigning champion. After having been banished from the gym by Roqua after his fight is discovered, Jake begs for forgiveness saying his anger is quelled when he is training with Roqua. Roqua agrees to allow Jake to train at his gym again, but does not take it easy on him anymore. He then prepares to compete in the Beatdown. Jake apologizes to Baja for not listening when she first apologized and the two proceed to begin a relationship. While training with Roqua, Jake inquires why he lives in the gym. Jake discovers that Roqua is from Brazil and he is in exile because he believes he is the reason his brother, Joseph the favorite son, was killed and his father had disowned him for this.
After being informed that Jake has decided not to compete in the Beatdown, Ryan invites Max to hang out at his house; there he begins to spar with Max before brutally assaulting him and leaving him at Jake's door. Jake and Baja take Max to the hospital where Jake decides to fight and when Baja begs him not to, he states that doing nothing has consequences. Before he goes to the tournament, he has a brief argument with Roqua about his decision to fight. Roqua eventually assents and tells him to "control the outcome" of the fight. Jake arrives at the tournament where it is about to begin. After a mix-up where Jake and Ryan almost fight in the first round, they both proceed to make their way through each leg. Jake makes it to the semifinals but was injured in the previous match after taking a kick to the ribs. While Jake is recovering after the match, Baja sees him and tells him that she finally understands that Jake is fighting "so he doesn't have to fight again". After learning that Ryan was disqualified in his semifinal match Jake forfeits seeing no reason to continue. While he and Baja attempt to leave, Ryan confronts him and the two finally fight outside in the parking lot. Jake is still limited by his ribs, and Ryan at first gains the upper hand, applying a choke on Jake. However, Jake escapes, and, with the entire crowd watching, knocks out Ryan using one of the first combinations Roqua taught him.
The next day, a visibly injured Max has been released from the hospital. Jake has won the respect of his fellow students, including Ryan, and Roqua closes the gym with a ticket to Brazil, signaling his intention to reconcile with his father.

Something Borrowed - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Something Borrowed is a 2011 American romantic comedy film based on Emily Giffin's book of the same name, directed by Luke Greenfield, starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, Colin Egglesfield, and John Krasinski and was distributed by Warner Bros.






Rachel White (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a single attorney working in a New York law firm. After too many drinks on her 30th birthday, Rachel grabs a cab with Dex (Colin Egglesfield) and playfully reveals she has had a crush on him since law school. The problem is, Dex is also her best friend Darcy's (Kate Hudson) fiancé. They wake up in bed together the next morning to Darcy, calling both of their phones. Dex sneaks out and they do not have time to speak about what happened between them. Rachel initially believes the encounter is a one night stand, but it is actually the beginning of a sincere affair once Dex tells Rachel he is in love with her. What also follows is a web of lies created by Rachel and Dex to Darcy and several others. Rachel continuously conjures up false stories of sexual relationships with Ethan and Marcus to cover up her sexual encounters with Dex.
Ethan (John Krasinski) has been friends with Darcy and Rachel since childhood. He is the only one who knows what has happened between Rachel and Dex, which he is reluctantly keeping a secret.
Meanwhile, Dex’s mother (Jill Eikenberry) has been suffering from depression for some time and Dex and Darcy’s wedding is the only thing keeping her sane and happy. When Dex skips out on 4th of July weekend in the Hamptons to stay in the City and spend time with Rachel, they run into his parents. His father suspects something is going on between the two of them and he tells Dex to end it as soon as possible, saying that what he wants should not be considered a priority when it conflicts with what is right. Considering his mother and father’s feelings, Dex gives Rachel the cold shoulder and leaves her to go back to Darcy.
As the wedding nears, Dex and Rachel are speaking less and less. At the beach, their secret is almost revealed by Ethan, who is frustrated with Rachel, especially for lying to people she cares about, but Rachel stops him by hitting him in the face with a badminton racket. This results in his nose becoming very badly broken. Ethan is frustrated with Rachel because she doesn't see that he is the only one who really cares about her. That night at the bar, Rachel finally tells Dex that she wants him to call off the wedding so they can be together, but he tells her that he can't.
Ethan moves to London for a job and Rachel flies out to visit him. He reveals that he loves her and just wants to see her happy, but is sad that Rachel refuses to see what's right in front of her. Rachel returns to New York to find Dex sitting on her doorstep. He reveals that he ended things with Darcy and called off the wedding.
Rachel is ecstatic until Darcy ends up at her door begging to come in to talk. Dex hides and Darcy enters her apartment. She tells Rachel that she has been cheating on him with his friend Marcus. She is also pregnant with Marcus’ child and says that they are very happy. Rachel gives her her blessing and Darcy proceeds to leave but only to return and ask what Dex’s jacket is doing in her apartment. Dex then comes out and Darcy figures out Rachel is the other woman. She becomes infuriated and storms out of the apartment, telling Rachel that she hates her.
Two months later, Rachel and Darcy ran into each other on the street. They have not spoken since the incident and Darcy says that she is happy, but doesn't sound so convincing. Rachel is unapologetic for sleeping with Dex but is sorry for hurting Darcy. As they leave, they turn back and glance at each other, with Darcy smiling and waving. Rachel walks around the corner to Dex sitting on a bench. They walk down the street together.
The film ends with an ambiguous scene during the credits. Darcy shows up to surprise Ethan in London; Ethan tries to ignore her and briskly walks away. The screen turns black with text indicating that the story is to be continued, which may indicate that a movie based on Something Blue, which is the book sequel to Something Borrowed,will follow.

Is J.Lo leaving American Idol?

Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez, who was just named the most powerful celebrity by Forbes magazine, is thinking about dropping one of her multi-hyphenates… as “American Idol” judge.


Although she hasn’t publicly made a decision, sources told E! Online that Lopez is planning on leaving the hit singing competition after this season. "She's just too busy," one source said.

J.Lo is going on tour with Enrique Iglesias this summer in Latin America and the US, and then taking the tour worldwide in the fall. She will be overseas when the next round of “Idol” auditions begins.

The superstar apparently has also hinted she wants to spend more time with her 4-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

Jennifer recently told Ellen DeGeneres, “I enjoy it. I really do enjoy it. This is my second year. I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year. You know, with the babies being three and four, now they’re getting more mobile. They’re about to go to school. I just don’t know. I don’t know.”

“Snow White And The Huntsman”: Photocall In Madrid

Showing some love to their Spanish fans, the cast of “Snow White and the Huntsman” was spotted at a photocall in Madrid today (May 17).

Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, and Sam Caflin were joined by director Rupert Sanders as they hammed it up for the paparazzi at Casa de America.




In a recent interview, Ms. Theron shared that while she loved the gig, she hated having to say the “mirror mirror on the wall...” line.

“I just dreaded it. We worked so hard to really find a foundation to ground the story emotionally in reality, and that was, for me, the only part that was kind of a throwback. In a way it's like, 'My name is Bond, James Bond,' something that is so ... How do you do that in a way that people aren't like, 'Meh?' And they decided to make me shoot that on my first day so I was just sweating bullets. I hated it, I hated it.”

Desainer sekelas Manolo Blahnik yang karyanya telah mendunia, terkadang masih bingung untuk menentukan tren terbaik serta memberikan rancangan sepatu teranyar untuk para pecinta sepatu.

Manolo Blahnik baru saja menerima penghargaan 'lifetime achievement award' dari Footwear News karena dedikasinya terhadap sepatu dan menghasilkan rancangan yang indah hingga disenangi hampir oleh semua wanita di dunia.

Dalam perjalanannya, Manolo masih ingin membuatkan beberapa sepatu dengan desain yang sempurna. Seperti pada musim panas lalu, Manolo Blahnik mengeluarkan beberapa rancangan sepatu dengan desain unik yang mencengangkan mata para fashionista.

Pada rancangan sepatunya tersebut, Manolo mendapat inspirasi dari keadaan Paris pada tahun 1920. Berbagai warna dan materi menyatu menciptakan sepatu yang luar biasa indah.

Keunikan yang dimiliki oleh Manolo Blahnik adalah ia suka juga membuat sepatu untuk hewan. Agak aneh, tetapi hal tersebut merupakan obsesi terpendamnya terhadap sepatu. Anjing kesayangnya menjadi model dadakan untuk sepatu khusus hewan yang ia ciptakan.

Zara Winter 2012

Menyambut akhir tahun, Zara mengeluarkan koleksi terbaru untuk winter looks. Fashion item yang akan diproduksi adalah gaun-gaun malam hingga pakaian untuk holiday party season.

Pakaian yang akan diproduksi antara lain sharp blazers, blouses, chic trousers, sweet dresses, dengan tambahan sparkle atau aksen sequins.

Tampaknya desain sequins yang sedang menjadi tren diantara para fashionista juga diterapkan pada koleksi terbaru Zara. Selain itu desain sequin yang mewah tersebut menambah semarak Natal dan tahun baru yang sebentar lagi akan datang.

Koleksi pakaian yang akan dikeluarkan oleh Zara bisa dikenakan tidak hanya untuk satu atau dua acara, tapi bisa juga Anda kenakan pada acara mendatang. Seperti sequins cardigan, one shouder dresses, atau printed asymmetrical dress yang siap menemani Anda untuk acara-acara resmi tapi bisa juga dikenakan untuk party event.

Gio, nagasari khas Vietnam

Di Indonesia beragam jajanan khas daerah bisa dinikmati. Mulai dari klepon, onde-onde, kue cucur, nagasari, serabi dan banyak lainnya. Tapi jangan salah, karena negara tetangga kita, Vietnam, juga banyak lho jajanan khasnya.

Uniknya lagi, beberapa jajanan khas Vietnam hampir mirip dengan jajanan khas Indonesia, hanya pengolahan dan warna serta kemasan yang berbeda. Salah satunya adalah Gio.

Gio adalah kue Vietnam yang biasa disajikan saat musim panas. Kue ini rasanya sangat manis dan gurih. Bahan utama kue ini adalah pisang.

Mungkin di Indonesia, kue ini bisa disamakan dengan kue Nagasari, yang beda hanyalah warna dan tampilannya. Kalau Nagasari dibungkus dengan daun pisang, maka Gio dicetak dalam loyang dan disajikan dengan potongan berbentuk segitiga. Dan kalau dari tampilan cenderung seperti puding.

Selain Gio, ada beberapa jajanan khas Vietnam yang juga mirip dengan jajanan khas Indonesia. Ada Nem chua, yang mirip dengan tempe di Indonesia. Nem Chua juga merupakan salah satu kue paling tersohor di Vietnam, proses pembuatanya tak jauh beda dengan tempe, yaitu melalui proses penjamuran. Yang membedakan hanyalah bahan dasar yang digunakan. Nem Chua menggunakan daging babi cincang.

Ada lagi, Banh Xeo. Boleh dibilang bahwa Banh Xeo adalah martabaknya Vietnam, kue ini tak beda jauh dengan martabak telur khas Indonesia, isinyapun hampir sama, yaitu telur, loncang, taoge, dan wortel. Kue ini banyak dijual di pusat perbelanjaan di kota Hanoi.

Ternyata, jajanan Indonesia dengan Vietnam tidak jauh beda ya?
